Island Vis, Croatia - Top Secret Military Tour

Duration: 4 hours
Price: 350,00 HRK (50 Euros or 65 USD)
It has been almost fifty years since the Yugoslav National Army (JNA) occupied the island and completely isolated it from the rest of the world. It thus not only prevented the island’s progress and stopped the clock, but also forced the local population into unwanted emigration.
The only thing left was the island with its intact nature and crystal-clear sea, where every cove has a breathtaking story to tell.
Stories that the Mustached Officer and 4000 soldiers never comprehended or wanted to comprehend in full. Instead of becoming what it should have become considering its priceless heritage, this strategically important island was turned into a large Yugoslavian army complex for the storage of military secrets. A fortification that was supposed to defend Yugoslavia against the invisible enemy.
Eventually, the Mustached Officer and 4000 soldiers left the island overnight, leaving behind them a maze of tunnels and mines where they had hidden all their secrets.
Secrets waiting to be discovered...
Departure from the center of Vis (defenders); a drive toward Parja cove (Jastog mine) and afterwards we continue toward Red Rocks (Tanjug); then we visit Stupišće rocket mine followed by a short ride and hiking ascent to Tito's Cave; we continue further on toward Hum, the highest peak on Vis, and then to Vela Glava (atomic headquarters and hospital); on our way toward the town of Vis we make a stop near the cross built to honor the killed RAF soldiers; we make a break with sweet bread, homemade wine and brandy in Golub tavern, after which we continue to Kut to the Czech Villa; the excursion ends in Lipanović cellar (mine) with tasting of top-quality wines and brandies.
